Kenya is a big country with a wide diversity of ecological systems and over 30 National Parks and Reserves, along with many private conservancies. The country offers some of the best options for travel and safaris. From the many wildlife parks to a beautiful tropical coastline and the stunning arid vistas in the north, Kenya has something for all tastes.

Travel within Kenya to your various destinations can be by air or road. To gain the best experience of the countryside as a whole, we recommend travelling in our comfortable and specialised safari vehicles with one of our very experienced and knowledgeable driver guides.

Is a Kenyan safari safe?

Running a safe Kenyan Safari is vital. The areas we operate in are very safe, we will only recommend areas that I know are safe to visit, and for all transfers and activities, you will be with experienced guides. All our safaris are hosted and you will be with your host and guides throughout. That said, all the normal precautions that one should take when travelling to any location in the world should be adhered to.

What is the safari accommodation like?

Kenya enjoys a huge variety of accommodation types to suit everyone and every type of safari experience. As each safari is tailor made to the group I will use my extensive knowledge to deliver the most authentic safari experience to suit you, regardless of whether you are looking for something rustic and traditional or more luxurious, our chosen lodges, tented camps and hotels are expertly placed to ensure they perfectly ideal for your safari.

What sort of temperatures can be expected whilst on safari?

Kenya lies on the equator and has a pleasant, tropical climate, but there are large regional climatic variations influenced by several factors, including altitude. Kenya is too close to the equator to experience a real winter and summer. During the Dry season (June to August) daytime temperatures are usually around 23°C/73°F at higher altitudes, such as the Masai Mara, and 28°C/82°F at lower altitudes, such as the coastal areas. The sky is clear and days are sunny. During the Wet season ( November to May) daytime temperatures are between 24°C/75°F and 27°C/81°F at higher altitudes. At lower altitudes daytime temperatures are more consistent and hover around 30°C/86°F. Mornings and evenings stay cool at higher altitudes, and it is advisable to pack warm clothes for morning/evening game drives.

How long in advance do I need to book a safari with you?

I recommend that you book your safari at least 2 months before you wish to travel, 6 months if you wish to travel during July to October.

Will I be able to stay in touch with home throughout my safari?

Safaris are a chance for you to focus on “getting away” and enjoying your surroundings and magnificent wildlife! However, depending on your safari location within Kenya you may have access to WiFi and mobile networks, but, expect unreliable connections, as you will be entirely removed from towns, cities or major hubs. If it is vital for you to have a connection, please let me know so I can confirm that there are facilities for you. Keep in mind that the more remote you are, the slower or more intermittent your connection will likely be.

What is the malaria risk in Kenya?

I recommend that you consult your doctor before travelling to Kenya for any information on vaccines/boosters and malaria tablets. There is a high risk of malaria in the areas below 2500m. Please bring all personal medications required as medical services and facilities are basic in the bush.

What about eco-tourism practices?

Kenya is at the forefront of sustainable travel and has found a balance between communities, tourists and conservation and has embarked on a national level sustainable tourism master plan, incorporating the three main pillars of best practice: environmentally-friendly operations; support for the protection of cultural and natural heritage; and improving the special and economic well-being of local people.
